　　本次学术沙龙活动教师发展中心特别邀请来自澳大利亚莫那什大学信息技术学院的杜岚博士，与我校师生分享他用元信息研究离散数据的心得。具体安排如下，欢迎感兴趣的师生参加：

　　Discrete data, such as those used in recommendation systems and social network analysis, are usually highly incomplete in practice, which inspires us to leverage side information (aka meta information) to improve the performance of community detection, link prediction, short text analysis, etc. We present a Bayesian probabilistic framework that incorporates various kinds of side information encoded in binary form in discrete models. The framework works flexibly with relational models and also models for text analysis. In this talk, we will show how different node attributes can be incorporated in relation learning, and how semantic/syntactic features of words can be used to improve topic modelling on short texts.

　　七、主讲人简介：

　　杜岚博士（博士生导师）现就职于澳大利亚莫那什大学信息技术学院。他于2006年获得南澳大利亚Flinders大学学士学位，并分别于2007年和2012年获得澳大利亚国立大学一等荣誉学士学位和博士学位。2012年到2015年之间，杜岚博士就职于澳大利亚麦考瑞大学自然语言处理中心。2015年9月加入莫那什大学。他的主要研究方向是机器学习以及在自然语言处理、文本数据挖掘、关系学习等领域的应用。杜岚博士在国际顶级会议和期刊上发表论文30余篇，其中包括1个书章，9篇期刊（SCI检索 5篇），国际会议论文20篇。期刊包括IEEE TPAMI, Machine learning journal, Journal of approximate reasoning, Knowledge and information systems等，国际会议包括ICML，ACL，ICDM，EMNLP， AAAI，ECML等。他作为主要技术骨干参与了谷歌自然语言理解项目（Generative models of life stories），并多次被邀参加谷歌自然语言处理学术论坛。同时他担任过或正在担任多个国际会议（例如，ACL，NIPS, ICML, AISTATS, AAAI, IJCAI）的程序委员会成员。
